2. Niagara Falls, North America

Second on Brit's travel bucket list is Niagara Falls in North America, with 40% citing it as a dream destination. Nestled on the border between the United States and Canada, this awe-inspiring natural phenomenon captivates the hearts of over 20 million tourists each year, and it's not hard to see why.

The magic begins with the sheer scale and grandeur of the falls themselves. Comprising three separate waterfalls, the Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls, and the Bridal Veil Falls, Niagara collectivity boasts the highest flow rate of any waterfall system in North America.

The Horseshoe Falls is the most iconic, and for good reason; it boasts a beautiful crescent shape and expels an enchanting ethereal mist that shrouds the surrounding area. Once blessed by the sun, watch for beautiful rainbows dancing across the sky. Niagara is an unparalleled wonder and oh-so-worthy of its place on any travel bucket list.

3. Blue Lagoon, Iceland

After a brief spell in North America, we're heading back to Iceland for number 3 on the travel bucket list to experience the dreamy Blue Lagoon. Nestled amongst the rugged Icelandic landscape, the Blue Lagoon in Reykjanes Peninsula is a geothermal oasis of aquamarine, mineral-rich waters. As you step into the warm and enjoy the soothing embrace of the lagoon, you'll soon feel a profound sense of tranquillity and peace. It's the epitome of relaxation - a spa like no other, renowned for its healing properties, allowing you to soak away your stresses and feel totally rejuvenated.

4. Over-water bungalow in The Maldives

The Maldives have long been a dream travel destination for many with their white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. But not any hotel will do! According to 2023 research from The Post Office, 34% of those surveyed dream of staying in an over-water bungalow to experience the incredible beauty of the Indian Ocean in luxury style. From the Siyam World Maldives island resort in Noonu Atoll to Sun Siyam on the private island of Olhuveli, The Maldives certainly isn't short of on-the-water accommodation options. However, this bucket list accommodation comes with a hefty price tag. If you want to save money and still experience The Maldives, search for hotel deals on Plans Change.

5. Amalfi Coast, Italy

The Amalfi Coast is a breathtakingly beautiful stretch of coastline and easily one of Italy's most memorable destinations. This UNESCO World Heritage site, nestled in the Campanian region, encapsulates Mediterranean charm and allure, boasting a captivating blend of dramatic cliffs, traditional fishing villages and crystal-clear azure waters. 6. Cherry Blossom season in Japan

The enchanting cherry blossoms in Japan, known as 'Sakura,' are a mesmerising natural springtime spectacle. This annual phenomenon typically occurs between late March and early April. However, the earliest blooms tend to appear in tropical Okinawa in January and the latest in Hokkaido in early May.

The arrival of the Sakura is such a big deal in Japan that its meteorological office has a service dedicated to forecasting the first blooms, and festivals take place in their honour across the country. Visitors and locals alike partake in picnics under the blossom and celebrate the sense of renewal that comes with the changing season. To witness this enchantment, plan your visit to Japan during the cherry blossom season - when the country comes alive with natural wonder and cultural celebration.

7. The Colosseum, Rome

The Colosseum in Rome is a historical marvel, boasting architectural magnificence and cultural significance. As one of the 7 Wonders of the World, it'll be no surprise that this famous amphitheatre has made it into the top 10 bucket list destinations for UK holidaymakers. Avoid queuing in the summer heat and battling the crowds by booking a trip to Rome in the off-season. Visit the Colosseum any time from November to February, and you'll find it is much less overrun. Even better, book a 'Skip the Line' tour to avoid the ticket office queue and get the most from your Colosseum experience. If it's a bucket list destination, it's worth spending extra, right?
