Not only is October much quieter than July and August, but it's still beautifully sunny, with daily highs of 24ºC to 28ºC in the more southerly islands like the Dodecanese and the Cyclades.

Mauritius - If you're looking for a long-haul destination for the October half term, Mauritius, with its pristine beaches and warm temperatures, will tick all the boxes. While October is still classed as 'wet season' in Mauritius, you're unlikely to get much rain towards the end of the month, and the bonus is there will still be plenty of hotel deals to snap up. Spend your week relaxing on the beaches and enjoying swimming, snorkelling and other water activities in the calm and inviting turquoise waters.
